Looking for a good tailor.

I've recently bought some new clothing and since I'm a bit on the short side my pants always seem to be to long for my legs. So I'm looking for a good tailor.

I would prefer a tailor that is local to me (on the board of Toronto and Scarborough), has a good track record of service, has fair pricing, and is willing to spend the time to make me feel comfortable and make my clothing look good on me.

So if you know of a good tailor in the east end of Toronto or the west end of Scarborough please leave a comment and I'll be sure to visit them and write about my experiences.

Gourment Food & Wine Expo

The Gourment Food & Wine Expo starts tomorrow, Friday November 16, and goes till Sunday, November 18.

Since I work the media I get to check it out a day early. Which I am really happy about. Just one of the many perks you get when you working for the media.

Anyway,

For $10 I'll be able to go around and sample all sorts of food and wine. I'm looking forward to see what different kinds of food are available. There is a long list of Exhibitors which tells here there is going to tons to choose from.

I'll be sure to post some pictures of the event tonight.

TTC is getting a technology boost

The Globe and Mail has a couple articles talking about the new technologies and vehicles the TTC is going to get.

It would the TTC starting to get the pictures. Customers need their information faster so they can change their routes in the event that something goes wrong or customers can plan there morning better if they know the transport vehicles are running on time.

I think one of the biggest improvements for customers service would be providing cellphone services on subway cars and platforms. Which they are apparently looking into.

Well see what unfolds in the next couple years.

Motivation for the masses

Jeff Atwood at Coding Horror wrote a post Yes, But What Have You *Done*? back in the summer of this year.

I have to say I agree with some of points in the post. Like a lot of people in this world I have tendency to say I'm going to do something and then I put it off. Or I get about halfway through a project and then stop when I hit an obstacle that I just don't feel like dealing with.

So I'm going to start implementing this new way of thinking. Do it F***ing Now! I hope that it'll give me the motivation I need to stick to and finish all of the things I have planned.

SparkPeople again

Over the past couple of months I've been slacking in the health and fitness area of my life. Now I can see and feel the effects on my body. So last week I decided to get back on track. I started using SparkPeople again and I've already lost 5 pounds. It feels amazing when that happens.

Hopefully next week I'll have finished planning my fitness routine and I'll be back on track and in decent shape.

Right now I'm just trying to stay within the food boundaries I've set for myself. The hardest thing I've had to deal with so far is not drinking any beer and not eating as much bread. I'm finding that vegetables are a great way of filling me up as a snack versus having a couple slices of bread with butter.

Anyway,

SparkPeople
is a free tool that helps you do things like track the food you eat, calculate the total number of calories you've consumed, track the amount of fitness you've done, and track your weight. It will also chart your progress so you'll have a visual representation of how well you're doing.

The best things about the site is it's free to use. It's definitely worth checking out.

The TTC needs improvement

At least 5 days a week I use the TTC to travel around Toronto. Since I live in the east end of the city I have to take at least two, if not three, different methods of public transportation get to my destination.

The travel time to get downtown (Yonge & Queen) from my neighborhood (Victoria Park & Eglinton) takes approximately 45 minutes. Which in my opinion is too long. I say this because if I drive to the same destination in my car it takes 25 to 30 minutes.

I feel that the TTC can improve their system by increasing route frequency, building more subway lines and increasing the size of their vehicles to accommodate more passengers. That last option may not be viable but maybe it's time to consider other vehicles that can accomplish this task.

Don't get me wrong. The TTC is a much better public transport system in comparison to the public transport systems in the GTA (i.e. Oakville or Burlington).

But for a city that is as large and encompassing as Toronto the public transport system requires great improvement. Especially considering the single, daily, weekly, and monthly fare prices.

That being said the TTC will raise the fare prices on tokens, tickets, weekly and monthly passes. This increase takes effect on Nov 4th, 2007.

I hope that this increase will be recycled into the system to help improve it.

We can only hope.
